Failover should be seamless...

It is a given in the financial services community that high availability, business continuity planning, and geographic diversity, all are very important. Systems cannot go down; if they do go down, people should not feel the negative impacts--failover should be seamless! The same is true in other mission-critical industries: in a healthcare context one doesn't want to have to tell a patient that systems are down.
