Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) '06

Several reputed institutes have come together to conduct the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) leading to enrolment, with fellowship, in their PhD / Integrated MSc-PhD Programmes in Physics (including various interdisciplinary research areas in Physics) and Theoretical Computer Science.

The Institutes are Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), Nainital, Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Pune, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bangalore, S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS), Kolkata and the following institutes affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI, a deemed university) Mumbai - Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, Centre for Advanced Technology (CAT), Indore, Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), Allahabad, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai and Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata.

Those seeking to appear in JEST-2006 (written examination in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science paper), to be conducted nationwide on February 19, 2006, should have obtained, or expect to obtain by August 2006, BSc / MSc / BE / BTech / ME / MTech degree or equivalent in Physics or Computer Science or related disciplines.
